Introduction

What is a Profile Forming Line?

A profile forming line is a continuous roll-forming production system that progressively bends flat steel strip through a series of driven roll stands, shaping it into a defined cross-sectional profile. unlike standard erw tube mills that produce round, square, or rectangular pipe, profile forming lines are configured for a wide variety of structural and architectural sections — both open (unseamed) and closed (welded or lock-seamed). forever machinery designs and supplies all three categories, engaging directly with customers on roll form process design for each unique product.

── Introduction

What is the Profile Forming Line?

A profile forming line is a continuous roll-forming production system that progressively bends flat steel strip through a series of driven roll stands, shaping it into a defined cross-sectional profile. Unlike standard ERW tube mills that produce round, square, or rectangular pipe, profile forming lines are configured for a wide variety of structural and architectural sections — both open (unseamed) and closed (welded or lock-seamed). Forever Machinery designs and supplies all three categories, engaging directly with customers on roll form process design for each unique product.

Tailored solutions

Unlike off-the-shelf equipment, each line is configured to the client's product mix — including optional punching, notching, welding, or perforating stations.

Progressive roll
forming

Flat strip passes through a series of driven roll stands, each adding incremental bend until the target cross-section is achieved — with no cutting or material removal.

Custom roll tooling

Roll tooling is designed and manufactured to the customer’s specific profile drawing using German COPRA software, with full FEA analysis and verification before production.

Open & closed
profiles

Lines cover open sections (C, U, Z, angle, purlin, rail) and closed sections (welded or lock-seam tube, structural enclosures, automotive profiles).

Open & closed profiles

Line Types

Three profile forming line categories

Each category covers a distinct class of output profile and machine configuration. all lines are custom-designed to the client's section geometry.

Closed Profile Section Forming

Closed Profile Section Forming

Produces closed hollow sections — welded or lock-seamed — including non-round tubes, oval sections, D-shaped profiles, and custom automotive or structural enclosure shapes.

  • Double cantilever gear drives; producing width adjustable continuously — width and height both changeable
  • 20 rolling stations; main machine driven by AC motor with reducer and high-precision linear rail
  • Roll forming process designed with German COPRA software; full FEA analysis and verification carried out on all tooling
  • Combined roller structure minimises line speed differential and forming resistance; ensures dimensional accuracy and stability
  • Machine base and transmission in welded hardened structure; rollers manufactured in 45# steel
Open Profile Section Forming

Open Profile Section Forming

Produces profiles with no welded seam — C-channels, U-channels, Z-profiles, angles, purlins, guardrails, door frames, and roofing sections. Roll tooling is custom-designed to the client's cross-section.

  • Decoiler → levelling → multi-stand progressive roll forming → flying saw or press cutting
  • Roll stand count and profile complexity determined by client's target section geometry
  • Optional in-line punching, notching, or embossing stations available
  • Custom COPRA-designed roll tooling for each product; section accuracy assured through process simulation
Other Profile Forming Lines

Other Profile Forming Lines

Flexible multi-product lines for specialty profiles, combining press forming and roll forming in a single line — suitable for complex sections, perforated profiles, or multi-step formed products.

  • Uncoiler → butt welding platform → levelling & feeding → press (2 mould sets with feeding & guiding device)
  • Roll forming machine with two sets of quick-change cassettes for rapid section changeover
  • Cutting device → automatic stacker
  • Full pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical control system integrated throughout the line

Functions

What profile forming lines produce

Profile forming lines serve manufacturers across construction, infrastructure, automotive, and industrial sectors — producing both standard and custom cold-formed steel sections.

Structural sections

C-purlins, Z-purlins, angles, and U-channels for steel framing, roofing structures, and industrial buildings.

Roofing & cladding profiles

Corrugated sheets, standing seam panels, ridge caps, and flashings for commercial and industrial roofing systems.

Door & window frames

Custom open profiles for steel door frames, window sections, and curtain wall components.

Automotive structural profiles

Closed and open sections for vehicle chassis reinforcement, sill plates, cross-members, and body-in-white components.

Guardrails & safety barriers

Highway guardrail, pedestrian barriers, and safety fencing profiles produced to national standards.

Custom & specialty profiles

Any cold-formed steel section not covered by standard tube mill output — designed to client drawings and verified by FEA simulation before tooling manufacture.
